Description

This is a milestone located in Kinlet, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is made of sandstone and features a curved head with a white cast iron plaque attached by four iron nails. The plaque has raised edging and black-painted lettering, which reads "BRIDGNORTH/8 MILES/CLEOBURY MORT/6 MILES".

The milestone is part of the Cleobury Mortimer Turnpike Trust, established under the First Act of 1761. It is a well-preserved example of a milestone that remains in its original location and retains its original cast iron plaque, making it an important indicator of historical road use.
