Description

UPPER ARLEY CP UPPER ARLEY SO 78 SE 1/131 Valentia Arms Hotel GV II Probably three houses, now hotel. Mid-C18, extended early and mid-C19 with some late C20 alterations. Brick and sandstone ashlar stuccoed, and coursed sandstone rubble with tile roof. To left is early C19 with hipped roof; two storeys, parapet and moulded cornice; two canted bay windows rising full height, flanking a 2-light casement. Rusticated central entrance has a C19 ledged and boarded door. Central part: C18, two storeys, two windows: glazing bar sashes under plastered wedge lintels. Pedimented wooden door- case with two-leaf 6-panel door; to left mid-C19, gabled to right, to left set back; two storeys, two plus one windows, mainly of two lights under square heads, label. Ground floor: two windows: three lights under square heads with label. Entrance to centre has a two-leaf door under Tudor arch Rear of early C19 has exposed sandstone ashlar with a pedimented wooden door- case with fluted pilasters.
