Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 meters north-east of Wigley Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, with some minor later alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof. The barn has about four bays. On the south-west front, there are double boarded doors for cart entry to the left of the center, and to the right, there is a 19th-century window with some rebuilding in 19th-century red brick next to the 18th-century right gable. A boarded door leads to the hayloft at the right end. Both gables have raised stepped verges, and there are narrow ventilation slits throughout the structure. The ridge profile suggests that the original roof structure is still intact. Permission for a detailed inspection of the exterior and interior was refused during the last survey in August 1985. The minor 19th-century alterations do not detract from the character of this substantial 18th-century barn, which is situated close to Wigley Farmhouse.
