Description
This is a barn located to the south-west of Dyne's Farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century when outshuts were added to the east side. The barn is partially weatherboarded, featuring some tarred weatherboarding on the east side, while the west elevation is also weatherboarded but has a base of corrugated iron. The south elevation has a deep stone plinth and red brick infilling at the rear. It has an old tiled roof and a central gabled waggon entrance on the east side, which is flanked by early 19th-century outshuts; the southern outshut has one sliding sash window, while the northern outshut has two sash windows and a stable door. The barn consists of five bays and has an angled queen strut roof with three tiers of through purlins, along with curved and diagonal tension braces, but no ridge piece. The posts are gunstock jowled, and the wall frames feature curved tension braces. The waggon entrance includes a reused beam from a house, which has diamond mortises.
