Description
Ivy Farmhouse and Ivy Farm Cottage are a timber-framed house showing evidence of three distinct construction phases. The oldest part, located at the rear, may date back to the medieval period potentially representing a former hall. One wall features openings containing carved heads, suggesting the presence of a former screen passage. The right-hand section of the house is of circa 1600, while the left-hand section is later, with 19th-century additions situated to the rear. The building is two storeys high with a total of four windows, arranged irregularly. The roof is tiled, with the taller right-hand section featuring a hipped end and a central chimney stack with rebated angles. A gable faces the road towards the left-hand centre of the building. The walls are now rendered, and the windows are square-paned casements, although two are modern square bay windows. The interior retains substantial exposed timber framing and a double inglenook fireplace. Side purlin roofs are present. A brick bread oven is located at the rear.
