Description

Castle Bank is a restored house from the 16th century or earlier, likely originally a hall. It was once divided into three cottages. The building has two storeys and features five irregularly placed windows. The hipped tiled roof has a central chimney stack and a later external brick stack facing the road. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is made of brick with a stone plinth. There are small modern leaded casement windows, and the entrance door is located under a flat hood supported by carved brackets in the style of the 17th century. On the right side, some visible timber framing with plaster filling can be seen, along with a massive end chimney that has a rubble stone base. The rear extensions are constructed of flint rubble with tile hanging above. Castle Bank is part of a group that includes Rose Cottage, The Well Cottage, and Fairway.
