Description

The Box House is a large private house originally known as a nunnery, located on St Edith's Road in Kemsing. It dates back to the 16th century, with 18th and 19th century additions and modern restorations. The building features two gable ends adorned with ornamental bargeboards, and the left gable end has tile hanging, all connected by a complex ridge tile roof. The left side has a stone plinth with brick and rendering above, decorated with incised ornament that resembles rustication. The right side is made of white painted brick with a modern replica restoration and half-timbering. While most windows are modern, there are three original mullioned windows located in the center. The house faces the Village Green.
