Description
West House is a house consisting of two sections, located in Kemsing. The left part is likely a late medieval hall or a portion of one. It features a high-pitched, hipped tiled roof with a ridge gablet and has two storeys with a window on each level. The first floor is tile hung, while the ground floor is made of diapered brick. The main section appears to be from the 18th century but likely hides a 17th-century timber-framed structure. This part also has two storeys and an attic, with two windows. The high-pitched tiled roof is hipped on the right side and includes two hipped dormers and a ridge stack with deeply rebated angles. The exterior is constructed of red brick, featuring a diagonal brick cornice, a first-floor band, and a galletted rubble plinth. The 18th-century sash windows have glazing bars in flush moulded frames, with the ground floor windows displaying keystones above gauged brick arches. One window on the ground floor right has been blocked. There is a four-panel door located under a hood supported by curved brackets.
