Description
The Brook House is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the 17th century with later additions and alterations. It features red brick, which probably partly conceals a timber frame, and has slate roofs that are graded towards the front. The building is laid out in an L-shape.
It has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with irregular window arrangements. The projecting south range includes one late 19th-century casement window and one 20th-century casement window positioned below the eaves on the left and right sides, respectively. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century casements with cambered heads on either side of a late 20th-century six-panel door, which is located to the left of centre and has an early 19th-century bracketed hood. In the centre of the range to the left, there is one 20th-century casement with a cambered head. The house has a brick ridge stack to the left of the entrance and a brick end stack on the left-hand range. At the back of the projecting south range, there is a mid to late 19th-century catslide outshut.
Inside, the ground floor front room is noted for having a chamfered cross beam and heavy joists.
