Description

This building is a barn and cow house dating from the late 18th century, located about 100 yards southeast of Wigmore Hall. It is constructed of handmade brick and features some weatherboarded timber-framing, topped with a corrugated metal roof that is hipped on the east side and half-hipped at the west ends. The structure is arranged in a U-plan, with a seven-bay range facing the road and six-bay returns at each end. The north return includes a three-bay barn with a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries.

The building has two levels and is adorned with a dentilled eaves cornice. The main east front features four blind archways with cambered heads, alternating with blind windows above which are loft openings, all also with cambered heads. The window and loft opening in the sixth bay have been altered to include a large loft door. The north elevation showcases two round-headed archways with inserted double doors and loft openings; adjacent to these is the timber-framed barn with large central double doors, while the bay at the west end of the barn is open for cart access. The south elevation has two blind archways with cambered heads and a doorway with a cambered head. Inside, the north range contains intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts.
