Description

No. 27 Mardol is a shop that likely began as a dwelling, dating from the early to mid-16th century. It features a timber-framed structure with a plain tiled roof and stands two storeys high with an attic in a wide gable facing the street. The building has a single-window range and an inserted 19th-century shop front, which includes a central door flanked by oriel windows. The upper storey is jettied and framed with close studding and a middle rail. There is a central four-light casement window and a two-light casement window in the apex of the gable, along with plain overhanging eaves. It is possible that this building was originally part of a larger structure.
