Description

This barn, located approximately 20 metres east of Upper Broughton Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century or 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and features weatherboarding, an uncoursed rubble plinth, and a corrugated iron roof, which was originally thatched. The barn consists of five framed bays and has one and two storeys. The framing includes square panels with angle braces. On the east front, there is a pair of large 20th-century doors to the right, with boarded loft doors above. Inside, there is an inserted partial first floor, and the roof is supported by queen strut trusses with V-struts in the gable ends.
