Description
No 31 Seven Wells is a house that was originally built in the 17th century and remodeled in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed siltstone rubble, mostly rendered, with a weatherboarded timber frame on the west side and a slate roof. The building has a baffle-entrance plan and includes one framed bay byre to the west. It is one storey high and features a red brick ridge stack above a blocked door located off-centre to the east.
The south front of the house has two windows, which are late 20th century casements with a transom light. There are four steps leading to a blocked central door, which has been replaced by a two-light late 20th century casement. To the right, there are two ground floor late 20th century casements in the former byre. Inside, there is evidence of raised eaves, likely from the 18th or early 19th century. A cruck truss can be found in the end wall of the former byre to the west, featuring a tie and collar.
