Description

The gin wheel located at North Road in Pant, Llanymynech and Pant civil parish, is a disused structure likely built in the mid to late 19th century. It features roughly coursed and dressed limestone rubble side walls with a cylindrical drum at the center. The drum is equipped with wooden boarding around the rim and cast-iron spokes. A chain is wrapped around the center and is attached to a trolley on a short remaining section of track. This gin wheel was formerly associated with the stone quarries on the nearby Llanymynech Hill, which it connected to via an inclined plane.
