Description

Plas Cerrig is a farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, with later additions and alterations. The front and right gable end are painted brick, while the rear and left gable end are of painted uncoursed limestone rubble. It has a slate roof that is graded towards the rear, and is principally one storey with an attic. The farmhouse appears to have originally been of four framed bays. There are two 20th-century casement windows to the left, a wide gabled 19th-century brick porch to the right of centre, and one 19th-century segmental-headed casement window to the right. Three late 19th-century gabled eaves dormers are visible, the outer one with a contemporary casement and the centre one with a 20th-century casement. The porch has a toothed cornice to the gable and a wide segmental-headed outer doorway, fitted with a 20th-century half-glazed door alongside flanking windows. A red brick ridge stack sits between the first and second windows from the left. A rubblestone range, at a right angle, adjoins the rear, with a large integral red brick end stack. A 19th-century rubblestone addition runs parallel with the main range along the rear on the left. The centre ground-floor room was noted to have a large stack, a chamfered spine beam, and joists. The room to the left also has chamfered ceiling beams and joists, with a cellar beneath.
