Description
The gin gang located on the west side of the barn, to the south-west of Briery Hill Farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed from tooled stone and features a pantile roof. The building has an octagonal plan supported by seven square piers, with the larger, multi-stepped piers positioned at the center on the north and south sides. The structure includes later boarded infill, part-slatted windows, and two pairs of double doors on the south side, topped by a pyramidal roof.
Inside, there is an unusual roof structure that includes a low-set collar beam running north-south, which is joined by sloping ties from the base of the principal rafters and supports a central post. The roof also features two levels of purlins.
