Description
The Old Hearse House, located to the north of the Ridley Arms in Stannington Village, is a hearse house built in 1871. It is constructed from roughly-squared stone with tooled-and-margined dressings and features a pantile roof. The gable front facing the street has double boarded doors set in a segmental arch, with a datestone above and a coped gable. The left side of the building shows a blocked door and two windows with slightly-projecting sills to the right; all openings are framed in alternating-block surrounds. There is one window on the right side of the building. This structure is included for its historical interest.
