Description

The Old Vicarage is a vicarage, originally built in 1745, with additions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a further porch extension in 1910. It is constructed of squared stone, with ashlar dressings on the later parts, and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape.

The south elevation is two storeys high and divided into two sections. The right-hand part is the original house, with a two-bay main section plus a single bay and a two-bay section, featuring a chamfered plinth. A central canted porch has a four-panel door with an overlight set within a shouldered arch, flanked by narrow windows. The returns of the porch have wider windows, all linked by broad bay windows with triple sashes. A common cornice and parapet tops the porch and bay windows. Within the porch is a half-glazed double door, set within an original doorway that has a keyed lintel. To the left of the 1910 extension is a similar blocked doorway. First-floor windows have keyed lintels. Stepped compound end stacks are present. The gabled end of the west wing is to the left, featuring triple sashes. The left return shows similar window arrangements and a later extension to the left. The right return has a small four-pane attic casement. All windows are plate-glass sashes in chamfered surrounds.

Architectural fragments from a medieval church are located in the garden at the rear.
