Description

PLESSEY, Blyth Valley NZ 27 NW NZ 237797 3/20 Plessey Mill House and adjacent outbuildings GV II House and outbuilding. House early C18 heightened in C19, outbuilding probably later C18. House roughly-coursed stone with tooled-and-margined dressings, outbuilding coursed rubble. House roof Welsh slates, outbuilding roof pantiles. House 3 storeys, 3 bays symmetrical. Central boarded door flanked by 12-pane sash windows; small 8-pane Yorkshire sash to far left. 12-pane Yorkshire sashes to 1st floor and 8-pane fixed casements above. Coped right gable with stepped- and-banded end stack. 2-storey outbuilding to right, of 4 irregular bays. Boarded door, 2 slatted loft windows to right and 6-pane casement to left. Right gable shows raised reverse-stepped coping.

Rear elevation of house shows outshut with boarded door; two 8-pane Yorkshire sashes above. Pent outshut at left end of outbuilding, with walled midden alongside.
