Description
A pair of estate workers' cottages dating from the mid-19th century, situated on Caynton Road in Beckbury. The cottages have a sandstone base and are constructed with planted half-timbering and pebbledash rendered infill. The roof is covered in fishscale tiles separated by plain tiled bands and overhangs. They are arranged as one-and-a-half storeys with gable fronts, featuring two single-light windows in the attic gables and two-light casements on the ground floor. All windows have large diamond-shaped panes separated by thin horizontal bars. There are ledged and battened doors to the left and right, with a shared brick stack in the centre. The half-timbering is designed to resemble a local 17th-century style, incorporating square panels with concave lozenges and herringbone struts as decorative motifs.
