Description

A pair of cottages on the Peckforton Estate, likely dating from around 1860. They are constructed of brown brick with a tile roof. Each cottage is single-storey and attic, with two bays. A flush sandstone plinth runs along the base. Internal porches featuring elliptical arches and ledged and battened entrance doors, complete with false strap hinges, are located on the sides of the cottages. The windows are cast iron lattice casements, with 2 or 3 lights, stone sills, and deep skewback stone heads. Upper windows are positioned in gabled dormers, with lightly timbered apexes, and in the gable ends. Brick flues, set diagonally, rise from a weathered stone band at ridge level. The wide, overhanging main gables feature shaped purlins and plastered raking soffites.
