Description

Rock Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on Stone House Lane in Peckforton. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with timbered gable apexes, thatched and metal-sheet roofs. The original plan comprised a single storey and attic, with two bays, and a single-storey addition to the south with a metal roof. A replaced ledged and battened door provides access. The windows are flush casements with glazing bars; those to the upper floor are located only in the gable apexes. A leaded casement and a cast iron lattice window are present at the rear (west). The gable apexes display exposed oak trusses in the timber-frame style. A replaced single-flue diagonal stack is visible. Inside, the cottage features an inglenook beam, bevelled ceiling beams, and exposed ceiling joists.
