SO67NW Outbuilding and courtyard walls 50 582-1/1/140 metres north-east of Hopton Court

GV II

Stables, now outbuildings. Early C19 with C20 alterations. Rendered walls. Hipped slate roof. Courtyard plan of central 2-storey block flanked by single-storey projecting wings and enclosure completed by courtyard walls with gatepiers. EXTERIOR: central block is a 2-storey, 4-window range with 3/3 sashes under cambered heads to first floor. Central pair of restored glazed panelled doors flanked by tall multi-pane casements at ground floor. Flanking wings with 3/3 sashes and plain boarded doors facing courtyard. North wing has small hipped cross wing projection with opening with cambered lintel with keyblock facing courtyard and mullioned sash in outward facing projection. Cobbled courtyard enclosed by rendered walls with plain plinth and stone copings. Square piers with pyramid caps flank entrance. INTERIOR: not inspected.
