Description
This is a barn located approximately 20 metres north of Little Brompton Farmhouse, built in the early 18th century with later alterations. The barn features a weatherboarded timber frame, with the right half clad in corrugated iron, resting on a plinth made of rubblestone and brick. The left gable end is constructed from regularly coursed limestone rubble, and the roof is covered with slate. The barn has two levels, with three eaves hatches and three doors, two of which are paired at the centre.
Inside, the framing consists of square panels, with weatherboarded partitions. The roof is supported by raking struts from tie beams and features five or six bays. The barn is included for its group value, although Little Brompton Farmhouse itself is not part of this listing.
