Description
19 Bull Ring is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the late 18th century, with an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick and has a plain tile roof with a curved hip on the left side and a brick stack at the rear. It stands three stories tall and features a three-window range with late 18th-century 6/6 sash windows, the left window being bowed, all set in moulded cases under gauged brick flat arches. There is a painted band and above, there are 3/3 sash windows as below, with brick modillion eaves. The ground floor has a 20th-century shopfront with cast-iron pillars on the left.
The left gable reveals that the brick facade fronts a rubble core. The gable has 17th-century brick quoins at the rear, above a rubble wing that features an early 18th-century 6/6 sash window in a beaded moulded case under a timber lintel, along with three 20th-century lights on the ground floor, one in a reduced opening under a timber lintel. The rear of the wing has a brick upper structure, indicating a probable raising in the 18th century, and includes a 19th-century brick flue. The rubble gable has a steep pitch roof covered with 18th-century plain tiles and a 20th-century casement window. There is also a 20th-century flat-roofed addition to the left upper floor. The further wing has a tiled roof on the right, a Welsh slate roof on the left, and 20th-century composite materials on the gable end. The building is located on the site of Corve Gate.
