Description
The buildings at 17 and 18 Bull Ring date primarily to the late 18th century, though they incorporate a core from the 17th century. They are now used as houses and offices.
The front elevation features two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The windows are 6/6 sash windows within moulded surrounds, each set under a gauged brick flat arch. The eaves are brick with modillion detailing. Two hipped dormers are present, each with a window in a moulded architrave. The ground floor has a central pair of 6-panel doors, one with a 19th-century overlight and the other with a fanlight, both within beaded surrounds, and sheltered by flat hoods on tapered, banded pilasters. To the left of the doors is a tall window with a blocked head, in a beaded and moulded case under a gauged brick flat arch, alongside a 6/6 sash window over a blocked opening also under a gauged brick flat arch.
The right return is curved, rising to three storeys and an attic. This return features a 6/6 sash window in a moulded case under a gauged brick flat arch, repeated above. Brick modillion eaves continue around the return, and a matching dormer is present. The ground floor has a 6/3 sash window with a crude stone sill, also under a gauged brick flat arch. The right gable wall is of rubble with brick quoins.
A stone wing to the rear has a brick end stack, and a brickwork panel sits above a timber plate. The property is situated on the site of the former Corve Gate.
