Description
This is a range of cowhouses located approximately 20 meters north of Colesty Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century and early 19th century. The buildings are a long range of farm structures made of coursed limestone rubble, aligned north to south. The northern section has a corrugated iron roof, while the southern section features a weatherboarded timber-framed front with a stone slate roof. The cowhouses are one storey with a loft.
The right-hand section includes a loft opening and two double-leaf boarded doors on the ground floor to the left, although it is likely that there were originally three doors; the right-hand corner has partially collapsed as of the last survey in October 1984. The left-hand section has a gabled loft semi-dormer with a boarded door, a ground floor window to the right, and a boarded door to the left. Inside, the right-hand part retains stalls and mangers, and there are unusual roof trusses where the principal rafters do not meet the tie-beam at the wall plate.
