Description
The gate piers and gates, located approximately 30 meters northeast of the Church of St. Oswald, along with the attached churchyard wall to the south, date from around 1738, with some elements from the 19th century. The gate piers and gates were likely designed by the Davies Brothers of Bersham near Wrexham. There are two piers flanking the entrance to Broad Walk, with an additional pier at right angles forming a separate gateway. Each pier has a square section with three moulded rectangular bands, moulded plinths, and capping that is topped with ornamental urns. The delicate wrought-iron gates feature scrollwork and floral designs on the main pair, while the subsidiary set has urn-capped standards and additional scrollwork. The low wall is regularly coursed with stone coping and is interrupted by a pair of 19th-century piers that have blind Gothic tracery, linking the gate piers to those south of the Church of St. Oswald.
