Description

This is a mid-19th century water pump made of cast iron, located adjacent to the gates of Ridgemount on Porthill Road in Shrewsbury. The pump features a short fluted shaft with raised lettering that reads "Waste Not Want Not" and includes a lion's head motif. It is topped with a domed cap. This pump is part of a series that were installed in the town to support the water supply brought in from the conduit head at Nobold Lane.
