Description

The water pump adjacent to the Watch Tower in Shrewsbury is a Grade II listed conduit head, dating from around 1870. Made of cast iron, it features a short fluted shaft adorned with a lion head decoration and the inscription "Wast Not Want Not." The pump has a restored fluted cap and is part of a series of conduit heads that make up the town's water supply distribution system, which is piped from the main conduit head at Nobold Lane. Originally, this pump was located approximately 20 meters east of its current position.
