Description
The water pump located at the junction of Sundorne Road and Whitchurch Road in Shrewsbury is a cast-iron conduit head dating from around 1870. It features a fluted shaft topped with a domed cap, which has a lion's head above the former spout. An inscription plate on the pump reads "Waste Not Want Not." This pump is part of a series of conduit heads that were installed to supply water to the city, piped from the conduit head at Nobold. It may not be in its original position.
