Description

This water pump, located on St Michael's Street in Shrewsbury, dates from around 1870 and is made of cast iron. It features a fluted shaft topped with a domed cap, which has a ram's head above the former spout. An inscription plate on the pump reads "Waste Not Want Not." This pump is part of a series of conduit heads that were installed to supply water to the city, piped from the conduit head at Nobold.
