Description

The water pump located at the junction with Belle Vue Road in Shrewsbury is a conduit head dating from around 1870. It is made of cast iron and features a short fluted shaft topped with a domed cap. The design includes a lion's head and the inscription "Waste not, want not." This conduit is one of ten established in the town by the Shrewsbury Water Company to provide water from the Conduit Head at Nobold.
