House, formerly clerk's house to Benyon and Bage's flax mill. c1800. John Simpson, architect and builder. Brick with hipped Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys with basement storey to rear, 3-window range. Central 4-panelled door with overlight in architrave flanked by 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched brick heads. 9-pane sash windows to upper storey. Side wall and axial stacks. The house is built of "great bricks" which link it decisively with the flax mill complex (qv) where they were used in all building work prior to 1805.
