Description

Providence Terrace is a terrace of four houses built in the early 19th century. The brick construction is topped with a Welsh slate roof. The basement projects forward of the main building line, its flat roof forming a walkway that provides access to the raised principal storey. The terrace has three storeys and a basement. The symmetrical facade features a four-window arrangement. The basement has cast-iron windows either side of paired plank doors. Ornate cast-iron railings define the walkway, which is accessed by steps on the right-hand side, also with cast-iron railings. Each house has paired six-panelled doors with overlights, set within a doorcase of moulded architraves and console brackets supporting a cornice hood. The upper floors feature twelve-pane sash windows with flat-arched, stuccoed surrounds. The building has plain, oversailing eaves, and gable, as well as axial, stacks.
