Description
This is a barn located approximately 20 meters southwest of Clunbury Hall, dating from the late 17th century with later alterations. It features a weatherboarded timber frame and a corrugated iron roof. The barn has scattered eaves hatches and doorways, including wide full-height double doors in the third bay from the left on the north side. Inside, the framing has been renewed with square and rectangular panels. A full inspection was not possible during the last survey in September 1986, but the barn appears to have a staggered single-purlin roof that spans 10 or 11 bays, featuring a mixture of collar and tie beam trusses along with raking struts from the tie beams to the principal rafters. There is a loft that runs for most of the length of the barn. The structure is prominently positioned along the north side of the churchyard of the Church of St. Swithun and is included for its group value.
