Cottage, now store. Late C16 or early C17 with later additions and alterations, some now removed. Timber framed, now partly rendered, on rubblestone plinth with uncoursed limestone rubble rebuilding; corrugated iron over straw thatch roof, hipped to rear of cross-wing. L-plan with long hall range aligned north-east to south-west and cross- wing flanking road. One storey with gable-lit attic to hall range. Framing: exposed to rear half of cross-wing and back wall (including hall range), square panels, 2 from cill to wall-plate. Wide double doors to left of hall range with C20 metal casement to centre. Entrance through plank door in left wall of cross-wing. Integral end stack with red brick shaft to left of hall range. Early C19 casements to back wall of cross-wing, including one with leaded lights. Open rubblestone lean-to to front gable of cross-wing probably part of forge/stack of smithy, formerly attached to front of cross-wing. Interior: long range in 2 wide framed bays has large stepped stack to left gable end; oak winder staircase to left approached through plank door. Timber frame (square panels) to cross-walls. Cross-wing open to roof but inspection of roof structure of hall range not possible at time of resurvey (August 1986).
