Description
This is a chest tomb located 2 metres east of the south transept of the Church of St Lawrence in Church Stretton. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a coped lid with moulded edges and plain inscribed side and end panels. The corner piers have enriched chamfered edges and a punched carved cusped lancet motif, similar to the John Robinson Memorial located 26 metres south of the chancel. The tomb stands on a plain chamfered plinth and commemorates William Jones, who died in 1818, his wife Elizabeth, and their son Randolph, who died in 1822. It also commemorates Randolph Jones, who died in 1811.
