Description
43 and 45 Church Street is a pair of houses that date from the early 19th century. They are finished in painted roughcast render and feature an irregularly pitched roof on the front range, covered with slate on the front pitch and a mix of plain tiles and slate on the rear roofs. The left side has an integral brick gable-end stack with plain shafts, and there is a brick eaves stack at the rear. The building has a two-cell plan with the ridge running parallel to the street and a parallel rear range.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a four-window range on the street front, featuring 8/8 sash windows, although the windows on the left side (No.43) have been replaced with uPVC. No.43 has a projecting ground-floor bay with a slate pentice roof, a renewed 8/8 sash window, and an entrance door frame with small brackets. No.45 has a projecting 20th-century porch under a slate pentice roof on the right side, and there are 20th-century windows on the right-hand return gable ends. The rear range has 20th-century roughcast rendered walls and windows.
The interior has not been inspected. The building is part of a group with other structures on Church Street, contributing to its group value.
