Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 meters northeast of Galliers Farmhouse. It is likely from the 14th or 15th century and has undergone extensive later alterations. The structure is timber framed with cruck construction, now covered in late 19th century red brick and uncoursed limestone rubble, topped with a roof made of plain tiles and corrugated iron, featuring a dentilled eaves cornice. There is a wide 20th-century entrance on the left side to the north and four 20th-century casement windows on the upper level to the south. Inside, the southeastern bay is open to the roof with a loft above the rest of the barn. It contains three true cruck trusses: the southeastern truss is truncated, the middle truss has arch bracing and an Alcock apex type B, and the northwestern truss features a saddled yoke. The barn was severely damaged by fire around 1980.
