PITCHFORD C.P. - SJ 50 SW SJ 5296 0281 6/121 Milestone at - SJ 5296 0281 - II

Milestone. Late C18. Grey sandstone. Segmental top. Inscribed: "Salop/7/Miles". Partially illegible at time of survey (April 1985). Sited on the west side of the Pitchford-Acton Burnell road. The Shrewsbury-Acton Burnell road was turnpiked in 1797. Part of a complete series, including milestones at Cantlopcross, Berrington C.P. (q.v.), and Pitchford C.P. (q.v.). V.C.H., Vol. VIII, p.16.
