Description

This milestone, dating from the late 18th century, is located approximately 70 metres east of North Lodge in Pitchford. It is made of grey sandstone and features a segmental top. The inscription reads "Salop/6/Miles". At the time of the survey in April 1985, it was noted to be slightly damaged. The milestone is positioned on the south side of the Shrewsbury-Pitchford road. The road was turnpiked in 1797, although it was diverted around Pitchford Park around 1833. This milestone is part of a complete series that includes other milestones at Cantlopcross, Berrington, and Pitchford.
