Description
The Old Rectory is a house, originally a rectory, dating to circa 1803 in Pitchford, Shropshire. It is built with a rendered facade over coursed red sandstone rubble, with a hipped slate roof. The building follows a shallow U-plan, with later infill at the rear. It has two storeys and features deep eaves and four brick stacks. The north front has five bays. It contains glazing bar sashes, with ground-floor flat-roofed canted bays featuring tripartite sashes in the first and third bays from the right. A two-light segmental-headed casement is located on the left-hand side. A pair of doors are situated in the second bay from the right, comprised of three flush panels each, flanked by panelled pilasters and glazing bar sash side-lights with panels beneath, surmounted by a segmental radial fanlight. A late 19th-century glazed gabled porch is also present. The interior was not inspected, but is noted to include panelled window shutters and a circa 1820 cantilevered staircase with a wrought iron balustrade. The north front was originally a symmetrical three-bay composition, and the left-hand bay is likely a slightly later addition.
