Description

The Old Dairy is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Pitchford. It is constructed of red brick with red and grey sandstone ashlar dressings and features a hipped roof covered with machine tiles from the 20th century. The building has a square plan and is two storeys high. It has a chamfered stone plinth and a stone frieze, along with two brick ridge stacks.

The west front of the house has three bays, with glazing bar sash windows that have stone lintels. There is a pair of central doors, each consisting of three raised and fielded panels (with the top panels being glazed), a rectangular overlight with lozenge-pattern glazing bars, and a stone doorcase that includes panelled pilasters and a triangular pediment.

To the left, there is a three-bay return front, while the right-hand return front has four bays, including a blind window in the second bay from the right. At the rear, there are three bays with altered first-floor windows. A central one-storey canted porch with a hipped roof features blind windows on each face and three steps leading up to a central door with six raised and fielded panels (the top four being glazed). The doorcase here consists of pilasters with fluted capitals that support a frieze and triangular pediment.

The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The Old Dairy is situated near Pitchford Hall.
