Description
Clive Wood Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse built of red brick on a dressed red sandstone plinth, topped with a hipped slate roof. The building has a square plan and stands two storeys high over a basement. It features a plinth and a dentil brick eaves cornice, with a brick ridge stack on the southwest and a large external lateral brick stack on the northeast, which has a gabled link to the roof.
The northwest front has three bays with glazing bar sash windows that have painted stone lintels. The central entrance is a six-panelled door, where the lower two panels are flush and the top four are glazed. This door is adorned with a reeded impost band, a radial fanlight, impost blocks, and banded rustication. It is sheltered by a Greek Doric porch that has unfluted columns and pilasters, an entablature, and a raised blocking course in the centre.
On the right-hand return front, there are three bays, with a central break featuring a tall blind round arch that has a stone cill, along with painted stone impost blocks and a keystone. The left-hand return front includes a ground-floor lean-to and a blocked round arch in the stack. The interior has not been inspected.
