Description

This milestone, located south-southeast of Lea, dates from the late 18th century and was established under the Turnpike Act of 1768. It is a small sandstone monolith featuring a segmentally arched head. The milestone is painted white with black lettering. The front is inscribed in upper case letters with serifs, indicating the distances to various locations: "MILES B.CASTLE 2 M.BROOK 7 C.ARMS 7 3/4". A bench mark has been recently painted on the front.
