Description

No. 55 Broad Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It features a front dating from the late 18th century, which is built over an earlier timber frame. The exterior is finished in stucco, and it has a steeply pitched Welsh slate roof with a base for an end stack on the left side. The building stands three stories tall and has a three-window range, with 8/8 sash windows on the lower floor and 8/4 sash windows above. The eaves are moulded wood. To the left of the building, there are steps leading up to a six-panel door with an overlight, which is sheltered by a moulded flat hood supported by scrolled consoles and fluted pilasters. To the right, there is a 20th-century shop window.
