The Mill

The Mill is a cottage, likely built in the early 18th century, with some remodelling done in the late 19th century. The exterior features partly painted coursed limestone rubble, with the rear rendered, and a slate roof. The building is one storey high with an attic and has three gabled semi-dormers from the 19th century, each containing 4-pane sash windows. There is an integral stone stack at one end. The front has two windows with 20th-century two-light casements, a central half-glazed door, and a 20th-century gabled glazed porch with a boarded door. To the left, there is a lean-to with a stone slate roof. Inside, there are timber-framed cross walls. A 19th or 20th-century addition to the front on the left is not considered of special interest. It is possible that the building was originally thatched, as indicated by weathering at the base of the stack and in the wall above the left-hand lean-to.
