Description

Church Cottage is a cottage, likely dating from the early 19th century, although it incorporates elements of a preceding building. Minor additions and alterations have occurred later. The walls are constructed of unworked limestone rubble, topped with a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high. It has 20th-century casement windows directly below the eaves on the left and right sides. The ground floor features 19th-century casement windows with wooden lintels, one to the left and two to the right of the boarded front door, which is located to the left of the centre. Integral end stacks have red brick shafts. The outline of an earlier roof slope is visible on the left gable end. A rubblestone lean-to extends from the rear. The interior was not inspected during a resurvey in May 1987, but it was noted as having a chamfered cross beam in the left ground-floor room, and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops to the right of the ground floor. It is included on the heritage register for group value.
