Description
Newcastle Mill is a watermill dating from the late 18th century and mid-19th century. It is constructed from roughly squared and coursed limestone rubble and has a slate roof. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, with a two-storey addition from the 19th century on the southwest side, indicated by a straight joint in the masonry. There is an integral brick stack in the right-hand corner.
The southeast front features a two-leaf boarded door on the ground floor to the right, with a boarded hoist-door above and a small window to the left. The 19th-century addition on the left includes a small casement window on the first floor, a boarded door on the ground floor to the left, and a large boarded segmental-headed opening to the right, which likely provided access for the wheel. The right-hand gable end has two-light casements on each floor. Inside, there is a large arch-braced truss in the 18th-century section.
